Perth is located in the state of Western Australia. It is one of the most secluded capital cities in the world. The inner area branches north and south of the Swan River. The atmosphere is quiet and laid back. Despite the assertions that it is the most isolate city in the world, Perth is also an energetic and thrilling place to take a vacation. This lovely spot offers everything from do nothing in the sun to an exuberant nightlife.
During the warmer months, which start in December and end in February, the beaches are perfect for swimming. When swimming at patrolled beaches, is highly recommended not to swim beyond the posted flags for the simple reason that the beaches are located on the ocean and the currents are strong if you venture too far out.
Hotels in Perth are high in quality. There are accommodations to fit every budget. Some establishments offer boutiques, spas, bars, lounges and plenty of other amenities. For the tourist on a budget, there are self-catered apartments where if eating out gets too expensive, you can cook for yourself. The Bed and Breakfast resorts are a way to go too. Some offer facilities where you can barbeque, rent bikes, and purchase a tour package.
Transportation in Perth is inexpensive but ever efficient. There is a network of suburban transport with trains that travel frequently to the southern, northern and eastern suburbs for the adventurist souls. There are two bus stations in the centre city with buses that travel to the outer laying suburbia as well if the scenic route is desired.
For those less adventurous, the Perth Cultural Centre offers a number of things to do such as visiting some of the cultural attractions or even attending a public event such as the Light Artworks located at the entryway of the Centre. This event happens between September and October.
In 1962, the residents turned on house and streetlights when John Glen orbited the earth and passed overhead. This action was duplicated once again in 1998 when the voyage was repeated. This earned Perth the nickname, “City of Lights”.
